OUR WEEK — NOV. 30TH - DEC. 6TH

REMINDERS —
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26th —
>>>No Confirmation this evening.<<<
WE ARE POSTING INFORMATION ABOUT

ANGEL FOOD ORDERING SERVICE
BELOW.

IF THIS IS HELPFUL, WE CAN CONTINUE.
IF IT IS NOT HELPFUL, LET US KNOW.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday, November 27th —
Thanksgiving Day.
We are not all of one church, not all
of one mind,
not all of one color, not
all tall, not all short, not all natives,
not all immigrants . . .
Maybe the things we have most in
common are our differences. I am
very thankful we live in a country
where our differences are acclaimed
and not forbidden.
The office will be closed both Thursday and Friday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28th —
The WELLS FAMILY BENEFIT is held this afternoon. A BARBECUE AND AUCTION will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM. Then a DANCE will begin at 8 PM at go until 11 PM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29th — A Holiday Festival will be celebrated in Casey. The Catholic Church will be open and adorned. There are many things scheduled throughout the day - including a Soup Supper at the Community Building.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30th — First Sunday of the Advent Season.
This is Student Offering Sunday.
No Sunday School is scheduled for Casey UMC.
There will be a display of Family Nativity Scenes, or Creche's, as they are sometimes known. If you have one you would like to share with the congregation bring it in to the sanctuary. We would like you to share the history of it, and tell us why it has meaning for you. It may be a homemade one, one your great aunt sent from Lichtenstein, or a stylish Hummel you found at Sotheby's Auction House. It's meaning to you is the important thing.
Our Scripture Readings are as follows:
Isaiah 64:1-9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The prophet calls for God to appear decisively, to "tear open the heavens" so the nations would tremble. He also confesses the need for such decisive intervention - the utter sinfulness of humanity, even of those who are part of God's covenant. Finally, he changes metaphors - from earthly catastrophe to remaking pots, begging God to be merciful when God comes. "We are your creatures, your people, your handiwork, like the potter's clay. Remember us and come to us if only because you made us."

A Prayer for Mercy and Help
1 Oh, that You would tear open the heavens
and come down,

That the mountains might quake at
Your presence- -

2 As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes
water to boil- -

To make Your name known to Your adversaries,

That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
3 When You did awesome things which we did
not expect,

You came down, the mountains quaked at Your
presence.

4 For from days of old they have not heard or
perceived by ear,

Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,

Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.

5 You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness,

Who remembers You in Your ways

Behold, You were angry, for we sinned,

We continued in them a long time;
And shall we be saved?

6 For all of us have become like one who is
unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like
a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

7 There is no one who calls on Your name,

Who arouses himself to take hold of You;

For You have hidden Your face from us

And have delivered us into the power of our
iniquities.
8 But now, O LORD, You are our Father,
We are the clay, and You our potter;

And all of us are the work of Your hand.

9 Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD,

Nor remember iniquity forever;

Behold, look now, all of us are Your people.

Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19 (UMH 801)
New International Reader's Version (NIRV)
The people cry out for restoration from the midst
of exile. "Restore us, Lord God of hosts. Shine
the light of your countenance upon us, that we
may be saved!" There is no salvation but from
God's favour; there is no conversion to God but
by his own grace.
Psalm 80:1-7 1 Shepherd of Israel, hear us. You lead the people of Joseph like a flock. You sit on your throne between the cherubim. Show your glory 2 to the people of Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Call your strength into action. Come and save us. 3 God, make us new again. Let your face smile on us with favor. Then we will be saved. 4 Lord God who rules over all, how long will your anger burn against the prayers of your people? 5 You have given us tears as our food. You have made us drink tears by the bowlful. 6 You have let our neighbors fight against us. Our enemies laugh at us. 7 God who rules over all, make us new again. Let your face smile on us with favor. Then we will be saved.

Psalm 80:17-19
17 May you honor the people at your right hand.
May you honor the nation you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we won't turn away from you.
Give us new life. We will worship you.
19 Lord God who rules over all, make us new again.
Let your face smile on us with favor.
Then we will be saved.

1 Corinthians 1:3-9
New International Reader's Version (NIRV)
In the midst of offering a greeting to the Christians in Corinth, Paul points to the end - the coming Day of the Lord - to call them to continue to grow and be faithful in using their spiritual gifts. All Christians are by baptism dedicated and devoted to Christ, and are under obligation to be holy.

3 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give
you grace and peace.

Paul Gives Thanks
4 I always thank God for you. I thank him because of
the grace he has given to you who belong to Christ
Jesus.
5 You have been blessed in every way because of him.
All your teaching of the truth is better. Your
understanding of it is more complete.
6 Our witness about Christ has been proved to be true
in you.
7 There is no gift of the Holy Spirit that you don't have.
You are full of hope as you wait for our Lord Jesus
Christ to come again.
8 God will keep you strong to the very end. Then you
will be without blame on the day our Lord
Jesus Christ returns.
9 God is faithful. He has chosen you to share life
with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mark 13:24-37 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Jesus' description of the end and his clear
instruction to always watch for signs of it.

24 But in those days, after the affliction and oppression and distress of that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

25 And the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great kingly power and glory majesty and splendor.

27 And then He will send out the angels and will gather together His elect, those He has picked out for Himself, from the four winds, from the farthest bounds of the earth to the farthest bounds of heaven.

28 Now learn a lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts forth its leaves, you recognize and know that summer is near.

29 So also, when you see these things happening, you may recognize and know that He is near, at the very door.

30 Surely I say to you, this generation, a whole multitude of people living at that one time, positively will not perish or pass away before all these things take place.

31 Heaven and earth will perish and pass away, but My words will not perish or pass away.

32 But of that day or that hour not a single person knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

33 Be on your guard, constantly alert, and watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come.

34 It is like a man already going on a journey; when he leaves home, he puts his servants in charge, each with his particular task, and he gives orders to the doorkeeper to be constantly alert and on the watch.

35 Therefore watch, give strict attention, be cautious and alert, for you do not know when the Master of the house is coming - in the evening, or at midnight, or at cock crowing, or in the morning -

36 Watch, I say, lest He come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep.

37 And what I say to you I say to everybody: Watch, give strict attention, be cautious, active, and alert!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 1st —
This is Pastor Lynn's and Naomi's day off.
Adair Nominations Committee will meet in
Adair UMC at 7 PM
—THIS IS WORLD AIDS DAY —
40 MILLION people worldwide are HIV/AIDS
infected,

25 MILLION people have died of HIV/AIDS
since 1981.

4.3 MILLION become infected each year —
Lack of education and a perpetuation of
misinformation keep the numbers rising.
The very people most at risk are kept from
learning the truth about it. Charities have
spent millions trying to subdue it, but the
battle is most difficult. Pray for those
infected and pray for the education of
those at risk.
Here is an AIDS DAY song with the
tune of Sibelius' Finlandia. Click on the
