You may have read in the news this morning, a massive ice shelf of over 5,000 square miles area has begun to collapse in Antarctica. Now this is the end of the Antarctic summer, so a certain amount of this is to be expected. This Wilkins Ice Shelf has been in place for thousands of years, so there is some concern.
I mention this for two reasons. Number one, my daughter, Amber Bates, left to go down and work in Antarctica last week, so I am naturally personally concerned. Amber is a scientist and this is of great interest to her. She has a blog site called "Amber On The Road", if you would like to follow her work down there.

I mention this for a second reason. . . This is the Earth God has given us to live upon. It is a profoundly beautiful, exciting, diverse, culturally disparate, stubborn, willful place to experience. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have a life here. I believe God has high hopes that the human animal is bright enough to learn how to take care of the place. I believe He rejoices when we make good decisions, when we develop ways to prevent and cure our diseases, when we invent things that make our lives easier, when we take good care of each other. I believe He has very high hopes for us.

Most areas of the world are making changes and developing ways to help slow global warming. It is not easy to manage, with growing populations, great variations in climates and trying to make up for many year's lack of interest. It may begin to take on a different appearance, but it can still be our beautiful, wonderful world.Don't forget the first meeting of DOUBLE DIGIT YOUTH GROUP on Sunday, April 6th at the Casey Community Building. Meeting time is 2:30 to 4:30. If you are going to spend the day with a friend, both of you come. It might be COOL. If you have ideas to make it more fun, let us know, we keep our options open.

If you have any questions about upcoming events, contact Pastor Lynn or Donna Kopaska and we will do our best to find an answer.

Thank you for your hard work this week.
God Bless and Keep You
Pastor Lynn
